Current designation:  Assistant Professor, Media and Communications, Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, India.  Cordinator of Media Academic Area, Deputy editor , Journal of Creative Communications

A Fellow of the Charles Wallace India Trust, she is a former journalist with The Times of India  and The Pioneer, both in India. She is the principal researcher in India for the 22-country International Media Concentration Project of the Columbia Institute of Teleinformation, Columbia University.

She is a visiting professor at Tianjin University of Economics and Finance, (TUFE) Tianjin, PR China and teaches “Communicating with grassroots innovators,” a course in the broader discipline of Development Communication. She has also led a group of MICA students to China.

Prior to joining MICA, she was Research Fellow under the Kasturbhai Lalbhai Chair for Social Entrepreneurship at IIM Ahmedabad,  where she organized the ‘Inventors of India  Workshop- 2006’ chronicling the inventions made by people of the grassroot sector.

Her doctoral dissertation on ‘Polish Refugees in India 1942-48’ is under publication by Sage Publishers and has won the ‘Bendre Prize’ for the best dissertation in 1996 from University of Pune. Her research on ‘Jews in Siddi Janjira’ has been published as chapters in two books. It was also invited by Max Planck Institute of Social Anthropology, Halle, Germany in 2007 for the conference ‘ Integration and Conflict: African Diaspora in the Orient.’ That paper is under publication in an edited volume in the the Harriet Tubman Series on the African Diaspora of Continuum Press, New York. Other research outputs are under publication with refereed international journals like Vikalpa , Journal of Media & Communication and Journal of Modern History.

She has conducted a training program in interpersonal communications for the field level workers of Gujarat State AIDS control Society. She has dozens of newspaper articles to her credit. Her research interests include media, development communication and minority communities.
